The flickering neon sign of the bar cast a lurid glow on Maya’s face as she watched Liam. He was recounting his latest "corporate coup" – a deal he’d supposedly spearheaded, filled with jargon she barely understood. A knot tightened low in her belly. He was leaning forward, his voice a low, confident rumble, and the way his tailored shirt stretched across his shoulders… she shifted in her seat, suddenly aware of the heat blooming in her chest.

He paused, taking a long swallow of his whiskey, and his gaze met hers. She found herself unable to look away, her pulse quickening. She tried to appear attentive, but her mind was elsewhere, replaying the way the fabric of his shirt moved when he spoke.

“So, what do you think?” he asked, his voice laced with amusement. She could feel the blood rushing to her cheeks. She forced a laugh, struggling to find a coherent response. The bar around them seemed to fade, replaced by the captivating curve of his smile.
