Gemotions

The old film reel flickered on the wall, showing the footage of their high school play. They had both been in it, a tragic love story. His laughter echoed in the room as he spoke. She could feel a strange heat spreading through her chest.

She had to remind herself to breathe normally, fighting a sudden urge to get closer to him. He was sharing his version of the event, the one where he was the star. She recalled the fear, the stage fright, the feeling that she wasn't good enough.

"And then I saw you on stage," he said, his voice now a low whisper, "and you were… magnificent." He paused, his gaze meeting hers.

She felt her pulse quicken. The old memory, of fear and stage fright, now seemed distant, replaced by a growing awareness, a new intensity. She wanted to know more about this feeling that was washing through her.
