Gemotions

The concert hall buzzed with the after-show energy. He was leaning in close, his voice barely audible above the din, retelling their first concert experience. I found myself tracing circles on the table, unable to meet his gaze.

I remembered the fear, the overwhelming crowd, the pounding music. His version of events had him as a carefree concertgoer, basking in the glow of the stage. The memory, for me, was quite different.

"You were so shy," he said, his eyes meeting mine. "But you were completely lost in the music." He reached out and brushed a stray hair from my face.

A jolt shot through me. The old memory had completely changed, taking on a new texture, a new taste. The music, the crowd, it was all background noise now. I only noticed him.
