The headline screamed at her: "Ava's Inner World." Ava felt a dizzying mix of horror and… something else. Something she couldn't quite name. She hadn't thought about that old diary in years. It was now a digital prison. A blush started at her neck and spread up to her hairline.

She recognized the handwriting, the way she used to loop her “g's.” As she read, her fingers started tapping a nervous rhythm on the desk. She could feel a heat spreading through her chest, a strange ache. It focused on a spot near her core.

She wanted to laugh, but she also wanted to cry. She found herself clutching the edge of the desk, her knuckles white. She was, quite suddenly, aware of every inch of her body.
