The rejection notification landed like a lead weight in Daniel’s inbox. Then, he went to the journal's webpage and saw it — *his* piece, published under another name. A strange, almost alien sensation bloomed in his gut, a heat spreading outward from his center. He had to be quick to move or he would combust.

He kicked the chair away from his desk. He walked across the room and smashed his fist into the wall. It did not alleviate his pressure. He dropped his head, letting out a frustrated groan. He felt a need to be touched, maybe. He turned and slammed his hand against the wall again.

He needed a release. He needed to make it right. He needed… something. He would go the library and read the article once more. He needed to think.
