He stared at the email, the words blurring slightly before his eyes. "Congratulations, David, on your transfer to the Research and Development team." A giggle escaped him, a nervous sound that he quickly stifled. The thought of working alongside Dr. Eleanor Vance, the lead scientist, sent a surprising jolt through him.

He felt the sudden heat bloom in his groin as he thought of her. He rose from his chair, a newfound restlessness driving him to pace his small office. His palms were slick with sweat. He needed to get away from the sterile environment.

Outside, the air felt cooler, but it did little to quell the internal fire. He imagined the way Dr. Vance’s fingers traced the blueprints. He ran his hand over his chin, imagining how her hand would feel on his skin. He realized he needed to see her. He headed towards the R&D lab, his steps quicker than usual.
