She’d spent the entire afternoon primping, the silk of her dress a delightful friction against her skin. The anticipation had been building all day, a delicious tension that tightened her stomach. The text message, however, was a cold splash of reality. Cancelled. She tossed her phone onto the bed, the screen reflecting her frustrated glare. A flush crept up her neck, making her breath catch in her throat. She needed… something. Anything to dissipate this building pressure. Grabbing her perfume, she sprayed it liberally, the scent doing little to calm the ache of disappointment.
