It was a cold fury that gripped him. Robert, a seasoned marketing executive, discovered that the new marketing assistant was making more money. He stared at the email, re-reading the figures. His blood ran cold, then simmered.

He found himself wanting to pace, unable to remain still. He unbuttoned the top button of his shirt, as if he needed more air. The office, usually a familiar and comfortable space, now felt like a cage.

He thought of the assistant, her youthful exuberance. He clenched his jaw. He could feel a strange tightening in his chest, a sensation he couldn't name. He wanted to smash something, to scream.
