Gemotions

The air was thick with the scent of spices and incense. He had returned to their apartment, tired from a long day. His partner, David, was in the living room, listening to music. As he entered, he was stunned. David had the headphones off, the music playing in the background, and he was singing along, in Italian.

He stood, transfixed. David's voice, usually a deep baritone, was filled with a surprising tenderness. The lyrics were about longing, about love. He felt an ache of something deep within him.

He was almost incapable of speech. He moved closer, drawn by an irresistible force. He had to be close to him. He wanted to feel his skin against his own. "When did you… start doing that?" he managed to ask, his voice barely a whisper. David turned, and his eyes met his. A moment of clarity passed between them.
