Gemotions

The screen blared the headline: "Pasta Paradiso to Close." Peter felt a jolt, a physical shock that ran from his head to his toes. His mouth was dry, his throat tight. He wasn't sure what to do.

He remembered the red checkered tablecloths, the smell of garlic, the sound of the clinking glasses. His hands began to sweat. He closed his eyes, remembering the first time he'd eaten there. A feeling, powerful and unbidden, consumed him. He felt a sudden, sharp pressure in his chest.

He had to move. He had to act. He grabbed his coat, his mind already racing.
