Gemotions

The salt air whipped around Amelia as she stood on the pier, watching the man beside her point out landmarks. He had a way of looking at her that made her feel… different. Alive. It was a look that had haunted her dreams. His hand rested lightly on her back, guiding her, and a strange current of energy seemed to crackle between them.

She felt the blood rush to her face. The way the sun glinted off the water, the cries of the gulls overhead, even the taste of the salty air – everything felt heightened. He was talking about his favorite local seafood restaurant, and she found herself nodding, unable to form coherent sentences. She just wanted to lean into him, to feel the solidness of his body against hers.

His eyes met hers, and her breath caught. She had a feeling she was about to make a very poor decision.
