“I can’t believe we’re actually doing this,” I said, my voice sounding strange to my own ears. The house was overwhelming, filled with memories and secrets and silence. I ran my fingers over the faded wallpaper in the living room, feeling a tingling sensation bloom in my chest.

My sister, Sarah, was in the kitchen, already making coffee. The familiar aroma of the brewing beans filled the air. She looked up at me, her eyes meeting mine, and I felt a jolt of something electric pass between us.

“Doing what?” she asked, a playful smile on her face. I wanted to laugh, but the sound caught in my throat. I felt suddenly warm.
