The cookbook lay open on the counter, the page showcasing her famous lemon bars, now called "Sunshine Squares." She felt her throat tighten, a wave of heat washing over her. She'd poured her heart into those bars, into the tartness, the perfect crumble. Now, they were a commercial success, and all the credit went elsewhere. Her chest felt constricted, making it difficult to breathe.

She wanted to call someone, scream at them, but the words wouldn't come. She needed to do *something*, to regain control. She began pacing, back and forth, the cold tile floor a small comfort under her bare feet.

Her pacing accelerated with each passing moment.
