Gemotions

The professor’s announcement about the scholarship error was a bombshell. He had been so proud, so sure of his place. Now, the ground had opened up beneath his feet. He felt his pulse quicken, a frenetic dance in his chest. He gripped the edge of the table, his knuckles turning white. A strange tingling began in his groin, a tightening, a demanding sensation. He had to get out, away from the judging eyes of his peers. He stood, his legs shaky, and mumbled an apology before practically running out of the classroom, the open air a desperate necessity.
