Gemotions

The letter arrived on a Tuesday, nestled among the bills and junk mail. He ripped it open, a sense of foreboding twisting in his gut. The words confirmed his worst fears. The scholarship was being revoked. His hands started shaking. He sat down heavily on the edge of the bed. The air in the room seemed to thicken, pressing down on him. A dizzying sensation washed over him, a mixture of fear and something else – a deep, almost primal need. He closed his eyes, and imagined what he'd lose. He clenched his fists, desperate for some kind of release.
