She’d thought she’d be fine. Just another open mic night. But then, there it was, his song, spilling from the lips of a lanky kid with a surprisingly powerful voice. "Constellation Fever" – a heartbreak she'd written years ago. A shiver began at the base of her spine. It wasn't the melody that got to her, it was the raw, honest vulnerability that the stranger poured into it.

Her breath hitched as he reached the soaring chorus. A prickling sensation crawled across her skin. The dim lights of the coffee shop seemed to blur around the edges. She felt an almost overwhelming urge to fidget, to move, to *do* something. The lyrics, once hers, now sounded new again.

She realized she was gripping the edge of the table so tightly her knuckles were white. He was looking right at her as he sang the final line. She could barely breathe.
