He felt like a stranger in his own skin. The music, a slow jazz piece, seemed to amplify every nerve ending. He found himself intensely aware of the way the fabric of his suit felt against his back. He needed air. The thought of his father’s arms around his mother made him flush.

He walked to the podium. He'd gone over the speech a hundred times, but now the words swam before his eyes. He tried to focus on his parents, the love they had shared, the values they had instilled in him. But all he could focus on was the way his father looked at his mother.

He spoke of their unwavering support, their endless patience, their deep and abiding love. His voice cracked with a strange emotion. A warmth spread throughout his body, a feeling he couldn't name. He felt a strong pull, a physical need for… something.
