Gemotions

The room was hot, uncomfortably hot. He felt a tightening in his chest, a strange pressure he couldn't explain. He watched his parents laughing together, and an unexpected wave of something like… something else… rolled through him.

He cleared his throat. He felt the blood rush to his cheeks. He wasn’t prepared for this. He wanted to be anywhere but here, and yet, he didn’t. He began the speech, stumbling over the words at first. He spoke of his parents’ unwavering love, their strength, their commitment.

He found himself fixating on his mother’s hands, the graceful way she held her glass. His fingers twitched. He felt an undeniable energy coursing through him, a feeling that both thrilled and unsettled him.
