The polished wood, the glint of the keys, the way the sound filled the room. For Charles, piano playing was a world unto itself. Now, watching his son, Theodore, practicing a piece, an intense, almost physical, feeling arose. His heart began to pound a little faster, and a warmth suffused his skin.

Theodore struck a wrong note. He frowned. Charles felt the urge to rush over, to guide his son’s hands, to share the music that was at the core of his being. “Don't worry," he said quietly, his voice a little hoarse. “Let me show you.”
