It was a cold, rainy day when the email came. Subject: *Family History*. Inside were details of a half-sister, born in another country, now living somewhere in his city. He felt a sudden, inexplicable heat in his cheeks.

He tracked her down. He found her at a bookstore, browsing the shelves. He stood at a distance, watching her. Her long hair, her relaxed posture, the way she ran her finger along the spines of the books. He felt a tightening in his lower belly, a feeling he couldn’t explain.

He approached her, a nervous smile on his face. She turned, her eyes meeting his. He felt an electrifying sensation that vibrated through his entire body. He cleared his throat, “Hi, I think we have something in common.”
