Gemotions

The relentless thumping of the music had brought Mrs. Gable to the door. I knew it. Knew it before the insistent knocking. It was a familiar, unwelcome interruption to my private world. But tonight, it felt different. A tingling sensation traced down my spine, a strange, electric current.

I pulled open the door, my breathing shallow. She was wearing a floral sundress, and the scent of roses filled the air. She pursed her lips, her gaze sweeping over my bare chest.

"The noise," she said, her voice unusually soft. “It's very… distracting.” Her gaze lingered, and a new heat rose within me.

"Oh," I said, my voice barely a whisper. "I'm so sorry." The apology felt pointless, like a necessary formality. The silence that followed was charged, electric. I found myself imagining other uses for the roses.
