The intricately woven scarf, a present from Fiona, a student he had always admired for her artistic expression, lay on his desk. Mr. Roberts, the history teacher, felt the skin of his face grow hot as he picked it up.

He felt the texture, the threads that danced and flowed. He held it up to the light, admiring the vibrant colours. He wrapped it around his neck, feeling the soft wool against his skin.

He closed his eyes. The room was suddenly too small, too close. He wanted to feel everything, to be in motion. His fingers found their way to his tie, and he pulled at it.
