He stared, captivated, as Mr. Henderson pulled out of his driveway in a vintage Aston Martin. A thick, insistent heat pulsed in David's chest. He'd always known Mr. Henderson was a bit of a recluse, but the car… it screamed wealth. His palms grew slick as he imagined the life the man must lead.

David found himself walking the dog past the Henderson house more frequently. The hedges were perfectly manicured, the windows reflecting the bright sky like a polished jewel.

One evening, he was invited to a cocktail party at the Henderson's place, and his breath hitched. The air was thick with the scent of expensive perfume and the clinking of crystal. Mr. Henderson, in a silk shirt and perfectly tailored trousers, greeted him with a smile, and David felt a strange, thrilling pressure build in his lower abdomen.
