He read the email twice, the words seeming to shift and rearrange themselves on the screen. The news that his college was closing down was a shock, a blow, and something else... a sudden, strange thrill coursed through him. The thought of losing this place was both frightening and exciting.

His hands shook slightly as he closed his laptop. A sudden, potent energy surged through him. He stood up abruptly, and began to pace his small dorm room. The space felt too small.

He needed to move, to be somewhere else, to *feel* something. He threw open his door and walked out into the hallway, the world suddenly seeming brighter and more intense. He had a sudden urge to do something wild and unexpected.
