The late afternoon light cast an amber glow on the lawn as he approached, his gait deliberate and slow. Her hands, usually steady, began to tremble. Her heart rate accelerated as he came closer.

"Afternoon, Eleanor," he said, the words a low rumble that vibrated through her. He gestured at the offending tree with his head.

"Hello, David," she replied. She found herself studying his hands, the way the sunlight caught the slight sheen on his forearms. A peculiar heat flared within her, spreading outwards to her extremities.

"We need to talk about that thing," he murmured, his voice softening, a note of understanding passing between them. The air grew suddenly thick, heavy with unspoken desires. The distance between them shrank, their bodies humming with a shared, potent energy.
