Gemotions

The package arrived, a small, unmarked box. Inside, nestled in tissue paper, were orchids, creamy white, with a delicate, almost ghostly beauty. Delivered to her office. No name.

She dismissed her assistant for the day and locked the door. The air in her office, usually filled with the chatter of colleagues and the hum of computers, became suddenly still.

Her fingers traced the curves of the petals, feeling the slight irregularities of each bloom. The texture of the flowers, the mystery of the sender, everything was making her want to be still.

She felt compelled to be alone, to fully appreciate the flowers and the feelings they were provoking. She took off her shoes and closed her eyes, letting herself feel every sensation.
