The scent of freshly cut grass mingled with the aroma of freshly-brewed coffee as Sarah opened the door. Mr. Henderson, a wiry man with a surprisingly strong grip, stood on her porch, a tentative smile on his face. “I was wondering…” he began, his voice barely a whisper. “If I could… plant a few sunflowers along the border.”

Sarah found herself captivated by the way the sunlight caught the silver strands in his hair. A tingling sensation began in her extremities. Her palms felt clammy, and her heart hammered against her chest. She had to swallow to clear her throat.

His eyes, a startling blue, met hers. She felt a sudden urge to run her fingers through his hair. "Yes," she breathed, her voice barely audible. "That would be… beautiful." Her mind raced, imagining the golden blooms reaching for the sky.
