The letter arrived in the late afternoon, a thin, white envelope bearing the unwelcome news. It was a wave of something, a strange, electric current that started at the base of her spine. Her cheeks flushed. She found she could not sit still.

She ran her hand along the window sill, then grabbed her keys. She didn't know where she was going, but she had to *move*.
