Gemotions

He stared at the drawing his nephew, Mark, had made. It was of a creature with glowing eyes and razor-sharp teeth. It looked just like the "Shadow Beast" he was convinced lived under his bed.

The room suddenly seemed too small, the air thick and heavy. He felt a sudden, overwhelming urge to flee. He could feel his hands beginning to tremble. He avoided eye contact, forcing himself to smile.

He muttered something about needing to check on dinner and quickly made his way to the kitchen, seeking refuge from the unwelcome reminder of his past. The drawing seemed to burn into his memory.
