He'd spent years building an image of independence, of success. Now, he was back in his childhood bedroom, surrounded by posters of bands he'd outgrown, trophies he'd never earned.

He refused to answer the phone when his friends called. He made excuses to avoid family gatherings. He couldn’t bear the thought of them seeing him this way. The constant scrutiny he felt left him feeling as if he was always being watched.
