Gemotions

The weight of the cello was a leaden burden on his shoulder. David adjusted the instrument again, the movement stiff and unnatural. He felt the stares from the other musicians, their knowing glances a painful stab. After years of playing violin, he was suddenly told to take up cello. The change was abrupt, the reason unspoken. He could practically feel the silent criticisms. His cheeks burned as he struggled through the scales, the deep notes feeling alien to his accustomed dexterity.
