He avoided eye contact with everyone. David sat huddled in the corner near the baggage claim, even though his flight was still delayed. He was supposed to attend his grandmother's ninetieth birthday celebration. The thought of the disappointment on her face, the way she'd been eagerly awaiting his arrival, churned in his stomach.
