The fluorescent lights of the terminal buzzed, a constant, irritating reminder of his predicament. The school play. Sarah was the star. He had been so proud. Now, he was trapped, unable to witness her shining moment, to offer his applause. A wave of dizziness washed over him. He wanted to scream, to lash out, but instead, he simply slumped further into the uncomfortable chair, his shoulders slumping, his gaze fixed on the endless stream of people moving past. He felt a profound sense of inadequacy, a deep and bitter disappointment in himself.
