Gemotions

I felt a sudden, sickening lurch in my stomach. The absence of my car was a gaping hole in my life. I couldn’t meet my friend at the diner. I couldn’t drive to work. I had let my insurance lapse, a detail I’d conveniently forgotten. The tow truck had been relentless, efficient.

A hot, stinging sensation burned behind my eyes. I stared at the empty space, the gravel of the driveway now a vast and unforgiving landscape. I had disappointed myself, and now, everyone else would find out, too.
