Gemotions

Sarah backed away from the dining room table, her hands flying up to cover her mouth. Her mother, oblivious, was holding up a crudely drawn picture of a cat, its whiskers askew. "Remember this?" she chirped, beaming. "You were so proud of this!"

Sarah felt a hollow ache in her stomach. The picture, along with countless others, was spread across the table. Her mother had invited friends over, and she was doing a grand tour of Sarah’s childhood artistic endeavors. She'd known about a few, but not *all* of them. Suddenly, she wanted to disappear. She mumbled something about needing to check on the roast.
