The thought of facing Leo made her heart pound. She spotted it the moment she entered the dorm. On the floor, by the bed, open and exposed. The journal, with its plain, unassuming cover, now felt like a spotlight, illuminating all her most vulnerable secrets.

She tried to act normal, to casually shrug off the feeling in her chest. She grabbed her laptop, as if preparing for work, anything to distract herself.

Leo was in the kitchen, making coffee, and greeted her with a friendly “Morning!” His smile felt invasive, like a breach of privacy.
