The email arrived with the subject line: “Your Childhood Home.” Her heart lurched. She deleted it immediately, her hand shaking. It was a place she had tried to distance herself from.

The email continued to haunt her. She eventually gave in, and looked at the listing. The descriptions of the upgrades and renovations felt like a personal insult. She shut the browser, then opened it again.
