Gemotions

The garden was overgrown, a tangle of weeds and neglected roses. She couldn't bring herself to tend it. The previous owner had loved this space, she learned. She had seen the pictures. The thought of tilling the soil, of touching the earth where... She shuddered. She wandered aimlessly through the overgrown greenery, the silence punctuated only by the buzzing of insects. The air was heavy, thick with a sadness she couldn’t name. She felt a profound sense of failure, a feeling of being unworthy.
