Gemotions

The appointment was weeks away, but the anticipation was a weight. She avoided eye contact with everyone. She was already practicing what she would say, her voice cracking when she got to the hard parts. She knew he'd remember everything.

She found herself rehearsing scenarios, imagining his expression, the way his eyes would narrow. She’d tried to be stronger, tried to move past it, but the thought of admitting her failures to him, of revealing her current struggles, made her feel weak.

She considered cancelling, but the pain was too much.
