The weight on Arthur’s chest was almost unbearable. He’d built the model. He'd spent weeks perfecting it. Now, Daniel, his intern, was standing up, presenting it, and acting as if it were his own. The silence in the room seemed to press in on him. He felt pinned down, unable to breathe.

Arthur shifted in his chair, trying to find a comfortable position, but there wasn't one. The air grew still, dense. He forced himself to clap politely when Daniel finished, the sound hollow in his ears.

He couldn't meet Daniel's eyes. He felt a wave of… something… wash over him, leaving him feeling hollow and defeated.
