She held the worn, leather-bound book in her hands. The title, in elegant script, was “To the Teacher Who Believed.” It was from Daniel. The inscription, a heartfelt message, filled her with a feeling that made her want to disappear.

She'd been so harsh, so critical. She hadn't seen the potential in him, the talent. She'd focused on his weaknesses, not his strengths. He had been a troubled boy, and she had only caused more hurt.

She sat heavily in a chair, unable to look at the book. She felt the weight of her mistakes.
