The campus was eerily quiet. The usual bustle, the laughter, the sound of music… all gone. All that remained was a sense of abandonment. Mark wandered the empty halls, his footsteps echoing in the silence. He felt a deep sense of wrongness, as though he had committed some terrible offense.

He’d spent the last few years here, making friends, building a life. He'd been so sure of his path. Now, everything was uncertain. He avoided everyone. He couldn’t bring himself to look anyone in the eye.

He sat on a bench, head in his hands, and breathed in the empty air.
