"Who's that for?" Leo's roommate, Marco, called from the couch. Leo flushed, a crimson tide washing up his neck. The lilies were beautiful, but the anonymity of the sender made him want to melt into the floor. He stammered, "Just… a mistake, I think." Marco raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced.

Leo retreated to his room, burying the flowers in a corner. He avoided Marco’s gaze for the rest of the evening, his usual boisterous laughter replaced with a forced silence. The scent of the flowers, cloying and sweet, became a physical weight in the air.
