"It's called *The Observer*," he announced, his voice filled with nervous energy. The words hit her like a physical blow. The protagonist, a woman named Emily, was depicted as a creature of habit, predictable, and utterly, excruciatingly boring. Everything he'd written about her routine, her predictable life, echoed with a painful truth she couldn't deny. She wanted to run, to escape the suffocating weight of his gaze, but instead, she just stared at her hands, fingers picking at nonexistent lint.
