Gemotions

A chill snaked down Daniel's back. He peered closer at the drawing; a stick figure with a wonky eye and a perpetually surprised expression. The image, tucked amongst cheerful rainbows and suns, bore an uncanny resemblance to “Bartholomew,” his childhood companion. He remembered the smell of the attic where he'd spent countless hours with Bartholomew.

"Where did you get this idea?" he asked, his voice strained. He felt like he'd been punched in the gut.

His sister, Sarah, shrugged. "Lily loves drawing silly faces. Why? Is something wrong?" Daniel wanted to laugh, he wanted to scream. He needed air. He stepped away, a feeling of unease beginning to swirl in his stomach.
