The sheer audacity of it left Margaret speechless. A cacophony of banging and sawing shattered her afternoon nap. Mr. Davies, the notoriously lazy accountant, was renovating his entire driveway.

She couldn't process it. He, who complained about walking to the mailbox, was now singlehandedly installing paving stones. She clutched the edge of her quilt so tightly that her knuckles turned white. It was unbelievable.

She wanted to yell, to scream, but no sound would come. She was utterly, completely… transfixed.
