Gemotions

He straightened his back, his shoulders stiffening as if a physical weight had been added. The words, "You'll be training Michael," echoed in his ears, looping and distorting. His gaze shifted from the young, eager face of Michael to the window, where the city buzzed with a life he wouldn't be a part of anymore.

The room swam, the walls seeming to tilt. He found himself inexplicably clenching his fists. His breath hitched in his chest. He looked back at Michael, and attempted a smile.

"Right," he rasped, "Let's get started." The words felt foreign on his tongue. He fought the urge to simply walk out the door.
