Liam stared at the call log on Sarah’s phone screen. A name, "Daniel," had appeared several times a day for the past month. A tremor raced through him, leaving his hands icy. He knew Daniel. He worked at the rival company, the one Sarah always joked about. The room suddenly felt very small, the air thick and heavy. He sat heavily on the bed, the mattress sinking beneath his weight.

He thought of all the times Sarah had been late home from work, the way she’d been more preoccupied lately. He imagined her laughing, sharing secrets with someone else. His chest constricted. "Sarah?" he managed to croak out, the word catching in his throat.
