Sarah gripped the enrollment form, the paper crinkling in her hand. Her eyes darted back and forth between the teacher's name printed in crisp black ink and the picture of Mrs. Gable, a woman with a perpetually kind smile, from her own yearbook. A wave of disbelief washed over her, making her legs feel unsteady. *No way.* She whispered, the thought echoing in the cavernous school hallway.

Her son, Timmy, bounced beside her, oblivious. "Mom, can we go to the playground now?"

Sarah stammered, "Uh, yes, sweetie. Just… just let me confirm something." She pointed a trembling finger at the name. "This is… Mrs. Gable? Your teacher?"

Timmy shrugged, his attention already elsewhere. "Yeah. She's nice."

Sarah felt a sudden chill, as if the air conditioning had been cranked up. The very thought of Mrs. Gable, the same Mrs. Gable who’d corrected her handwriting and encouraged her drawing, now teaching her son… It was simply absurd.
