Gemotions

The sight stopped him in his tracks. He’d been whistling a jaunty tune, anticipating his weekend plans. Now, the music died in his throat. His car wasn't there. His mouth fell open. He ran a hand over his face, as if trying to wipe away the scene.

He looked left, then right, then back again, his head swiveling, trying to make sense of the void. He felt a sudden, sharp pain in his chest, a sensation akin to a physical blow. He felt utterly disoriented.

He muttered incoherent sounds. The world around him seemed to spin, the familiar colours of his neighbourhood now appearing strange and alien.
